Jiribam Sub-Division is a part of Imphal east district but is separated by Imphal West District, Senapati District and Tamenglong District from its District HQ.
Major parts of the forest division are hilly, steep and at places precipitous. But there are also undulating and narrow valleys that are formed by the Barak River, Makru River and Jiri River. Piedmont is also common between the narrow valleys and the hill slopes. The rest of the area can be categorised as low hill slopes.
Two major rivers – the Barak River and the Jiri River - flow along the entire boundary of the Working Plan area. These two major rivers along with its other minor tributaries like the Makru River form the perennial source of water for the people as well as wildlife. There are also other water bodies like the Zeliad Lake but this is important from the biodiversity conservation aspect only. Water table is usually high. There are also numerous springs and streams that sustain life in all its myriad diversity.
