Eastern Forest circle :

This circle comprises of the forest divisions of Tengnoupal and Ukhrul. The districts which it covers are Chandel and Ukhrul. The circle has boundaries with Myanmar and the border town of Moreh through which the international trade takes place is part of this circle.

The circle is rich in biodiversity owing to the Indo-Myanmar hotspot and varied topography. The major timber operations are conducted in this circle and are the source of many of the NTFPs.

The Conservator of Forests Eastern Circle is the head of this circle and the office is situated at the Forest Head Office, Sanjenthong, Imphal.

Shifting cultivation is one major problem faced in the circle for which the management involving local people has been taken up as the counter mechanism where in sustainable livelihood opportunities are provided through various schemes to the forest dependent communities.

Bamboo and cane forests which are rich in biodiversity are abundant in this circle.
