Western Forest Circle:

This circle comprises of the forest divisions of Tamenglong and Jiribam. The district it covers involves Imphal East and Tamenglong. This circle has its boundary with the state of Assam.

The circle is one of the richest in biodiversity and has many of the protected areas like Jiri-Makru, Zeilad & Kailam WLS carved out from it. It is unique with the presence of extensive bamboo breaks and has the famous Barrak river flowing through its expanse.

Melocanna baccifera, a monopodial bamboo species covers vast expanses of this circle. Timber operations are carried out in accordance with the approved working plan.
